Time is not on my side this week, so my apologies for not covering EVERYTHING that this unit is capable of. If you're looking at this listing, you likely already know that Akai best known for the MPC60, MPC2000/XL, MPC3000, & the S900/950 &.

Is at the top of the food chain when it comes to Professional Audio Samplers. Even with all of the modern/flashy technology, software & "simulators" available today, the best of the best in the music business STILL make use of these machines years later in order to add a certain "punch" to the sound that you just cannot get from these newer units. A favorite amongst COUNTLESS Hip-Hop Producers, Techno/Trance/House/Industrial/Underground DJS & the like (WORLDWIDE), the Akai S3200XL is the absolute BEST that any musician can get out of all the "S" series of rack mount samplers (assuming that SOUND quality is your ultimate goal). When it comes to the Akai Samplers, these particular "3200XL" units are RARELY seen listed for sale, & the main reason why is because the S3200XL is considered the FLAGSHIP model of the "S" series of samplers in that it has the MOST expansion/connectivity options & comes with just about everything that is either non-existent or optional on most of the other units (including an SCSI port & digital i/o connectivity options). This unit has the (removable) EB16 Effects board installed, so you obviously have the full range of Akais BEST effect programs locked/loaded & ready to go whenever you need them. There is a bay where you can add an SSD Hard drive, a Standard Hard Drive, A flash/USB drive reader (which could be used while keeping the classic floppy drive reader in place), OR a CD-ROM/CDRW drive if you wish (hence the size difference when compared to the S3000XL & S2800/S2800XL models [2U high vs 3U on this model]). You also have an 8 individual/assignable output board installed (removable), which effectively gives you a total of TEN outputs if you include the main stereo outs. In addition, this was the LAST/most recent model that was "Made in Japan" & there's a certain "in your face" punch that you get from pretty much anything you sample into this unit that you just can't get from the other rack mount (or sampler/sequencer) Akai units (especially those that are "Made In China"). Unlike most of the other units, the Akai S3200XL uses the same converters that are found in the Akai MPC3000, thus you are basically getting a rack mount version of the Akai MPC3000, minus the Pads & the Sequencer (a fact that MOST MPC3000 lovers are NOT aware of)! This unit spent most of its life in a climate-controlled studio, it was meant to be part of a new studio build & I would rather not let this go, but I have decided to let go of some projects in order to focus on some other items following all of the pandemic craziness, so I'm hoping this finds a good home with someone who knows their way around this classic technology! Not much else I can say about this bad boy, but if you're still undecided, just refer back to some of the hardest MPC3000 drums that you've ever heard (from your favorite producers/djs), then look at the current asking price of a vintage MPC3000, ask yourself if the SOUND is your main goal, & then ask yourself if going for an MPC3000 at the current going rate is TRULY worth the price difference (considering that you most likely already have a solid sequencer built-in to your favorite DAW [& whatever you sample into this unit will most likely end up right back inside a DAW at some point anyway]).

This sale includes the Akai Professional S3200XL Midi Stereo Digital Sampler in VERY good condition. Although I have ZERO doubts that this unit would hold up perfectly fine on the road, this machine has NEVER been "gigged" nor has it ever been on tour.

This unit has been used STRICTLY in a studio environment, thus it is very clean inside & out & it has not been "ran into the ground" compared to so many pieces of used gear that you will ever come across for sale, where it will LOOK halfway decent in the pictures, but then you actually get your hands on it & buttons are loose/sticking/intermittent, knobs won't turn, theres stickers/residue all around the casing, loose jacks/wiring, bad solder points, etc. As far as operation, this unit has been fully tested, all audio input/output channels & connections/switches/buttons/knobs are functioning as they should, all MIDI in/out/thru connections are functioning as they should, & the sampling/playback is quick & accurate.

As shown in the uploaded images, there are no puffy capacitors or burnt out/blown components to be found on the power supply, main board or the output board. As far as the cosmetics, this unit is about an 8/10 cosmetically. Aside from a few small blemishes (light rack rash on the top/side panel, a missing screw on the rear/center edge of the top panel & a slight bend in the top panel [mostly easy fixes but obviously having no effect on the sound/operation]), this unit is in VERY good shape for its age & it is built like a tank.

As you can see, the backlight on the original LCD display IS somewhat dim (as to be expected with the older "backlit' LCD technology that was used in these "90s-era units), but totally useable. Please be sure that you know how to PROPERLY operate these units & do your research ahead-of-time to ensure that this unit will work for your application! I tend to cater my listings towards people who wish to avoid A. They don't require amazing credit, they don't harm your credit & they are similar to layaway but different as they BOTH allow you to get your. , & then enter that grand total within the website or chrome extension for either service.
