Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 Firewire/Thunderbolt Interface for PC or Mac. For Thunderbolt operation, this unit requires adaptor (not included) for Thunderbolt operation, per the manual. I used this as a firewire interface for over 2 years in my home studio.

It sounds and works great. It has two combo inputs on the front panel. Those two channels can support Mic, Line, and Instrument sources. The other 6 analog audio inputs are combo XLR/TRS inputs in the back. It has nice meters for monitoring and separate controls for two headphones.

There are Dim and Mute controls on the master output. The Mix Control software (free at Focusrite -- users guide also available there) allows you to configure the unit however you like for monitoring, including the ability to set up multiple independent monitor mixes which can be assigned to any of the TRS analog audio outs on the back panel.

Optical and SPDIF digital inputs allow you to expand the number of inputs. MIDI I/O is onboard as well.
